Braedan Willis University of Victoria women’s golf team finished in a tie for third place at the CSU San Marcos Classic held in Valley Center, California on Oct. 29-30.


Third-year Vike Rhiannon Jones shot a team-low 152 (+8) over the two-day tournament in California, finishing in a tie for 12th in the individual standings. Jones’ second round of 75 (+3) vaulted her up five spots on the leaderboard after beginning the final round in 17th place.

Quinn Fitzgerald was the round one leader amongst the Vikes, shooting a 74 (+2) to put her in ninth place heading into Tuesday’s final round. Fitzgerald’s second round score of 81 (+9) dropped her back 10 spots in the individual standings to finish the tournament in a four-way tie for 19th. Vike teammate Nicole Gargarella (155) was one of the three players tied with Fitzgerald.

Rounding out the scores for the Vikes were Sukriti Harjai (156) who finished in 23rd and Melanie Murchison (157) who finished one stoke back of Harjai in 24th.
