The Victoria HarbourCats continue to find unique ways to sell the game of competitive collegiate – post-collegiate baseball. Once again, the team will play  games in Duncan and Nanaimo on Friday, June 28 and Tuesday, July 2 in Duncan.

The Friday game will be in Nanaimo against a local group of experienced players at Serauxmen Stadium, while Tuesday’s will take place in Evans Park on Somenos Road. They will take on the Ladysmith Pilots. Both are non-league games.

“This is something we have done back in 2014, holding games in other island ballparks, and it’s something we’re proud to continiue,” said Jim Swanson, managing partner of the HabourCats. “We announced our interest at the ownership group of the HarbourCats of owning a second WCL team in Nanaimo. We think the island is a hotbed for baseball and these are great communities. These games allow us to put our stamp on those beliefs.”

The ‘Cats pre-season schedule at home begins Saturday, June 1 at 6:35 pm the opponent to be determined.

The home-opening weekend at Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park happens June 7-9 against three-time defending champion Corvallis Knights – the Saturday game offers fireworks.
