The Victoria Grizzlies and Prince George Spruce Kings started their third-round playoff series – the final four in the British Columbia Hockey League – on Friday in Prince George. The Spruce Kings won by the score of 4-2.

Dylan Anhorn opened the scoring at 19:11 of the first period with his third goal of the post-season. Patrick Cozzi and Corey Cunningham assisted on the play.

The Spruce Kings got up to a 4-0 lead by 6:51 of the second period with goals by Cozzi and Poisson 11 seconds apart at 10 and 21 seconds of the second period. Cunningham buried his second of the post-season from Nolan Welsh and Max Coyle at 6:51.

It was a big hole for the Grizzlies to dig themselves out of.

At 10:00 of the second period, Alexander Campbell scored his eighth of the post-season from Alex Newhook. Four-minutes and 18 seconds later Cameron Thompson scored his fourth from Marty Westhaver.

There was no scoring during the third period.

Kurtis Chapman stopped 36 of 40 shots in net for the Grizzlies, while Logan Neaton stopped 25 of 27.

The powerplays went 0/1 for the Grizzlies and 0/2 for the Spruce Kings.

The teams return to action for Game 2 Saturday in Prince George, puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 pm. Game 3 and 4 take place in Colwood at The Q Centre on Monday and Tuesday with a 7:00 pm puck drop for both nights.
