Rhys Duch in OVERTIME!
— NLL (@NLL) May 26, 2019
Rhys Duch, at 1:12 into overtime, scored to take the National Lacrosse League championships title for the third time on Saturday for the Calgary Roughnecks over the Buffalo Bandits. They won 14-13.
The Victoria Shamrocks are hoping that he can turn the same magic this season in Victoria when he returns to The Q Centre-dwelling team celebrating its 70th year in the Western Lacrosse Association.
Duch scored twice in overtime and picked up an assist on the night, while Roughnecks teammate Jesse King scored once and picked up five assists.
Duch and King will make up the primary offense for the Shamrocks when they return to the lineup.
Bandit, Steve Priolo, a shorthanded and defensive force to be reckoned with will also be an important cog in the system – as the Mann Cup finals will be hosted by a WLA franchise.
The Shamrocks play Sunday at 6:00 pm at The Q Centre in Colwood. They lost the home opener 11-6 to Nanaimo.
