The Christie-Phoenix Insurance Victoria Run Series is into its seventh year. Offering three or four track meets and three trail or cross-country events as well as a season-ending silent auction and awards night, each year.
To date, the series has raised nearly $20,000 for charity.
The track meets takes place at the University of Victoria’s Centennial Stadium, while the cross-country and trail races can take place at various location, but often happen at Beaver Lake. There has been a one-off road race from PISE, through Camosun’s Interurban campus and back and for 2016 there is The Mount Doug Ascent, which goes up the road takes place on September 3rd.
The series is open to all abilities and all ages.
To date there have been 20 provincial age-group records set, as well as two world and six national records.
Often the University of Victoria Vikes will compete as will top high school athletes and even international competitors.
The silent auction and awards party takes place this year at Rustik Bistro, which is located where Carey Road and Glanford Avenue meet at 3950 Carey Road.
