The Powell River Kings tied their second-round playoff series with the Victoria Grizzlies, at home in the Hap Parker Arena. They defeated the Grizzlies 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday night.
The teams return to The Q Centre in Colwood on Friday for a 7:00 pm puck drop.
Ben Berard opened the scoring for the Kings at 8:05 of the first period with his fourth of the post-season. Ethan Martini and Ryan Brushett earned assists on the play.
Jack Long got called for slashing at 8:32 and then the Victoria powerplay went to work. Riley Hughes picked up a rebound off goaltender Mitch Adamyk from a Carter Berger point shot, the right handed New York Rangers draft pick made no mistake.
The Grizzlies went ahead less than at 17:30 when Marty Westhaver scored his fifth of the post season from Cameron Thompson.
There was no scoring during the second period despite the shots being 13-7 for the Grizzlies during that middle frame.
Brushett scored his second goal at 14:52 of the third period to tie the game and send it to overtime.
Levi Glasman, a 19-year-old Lacombe, AB native scored the winner with his ninth of the playoffs at 7:01 of the extra frame. Mitchell Williams and Matthew Byrne earned assists on the play.
Kurtis Chapman stopped 37 of 40 shots in net for the Grizzlies, while Adamyk stopped 35 of 37 for the win.
