Beacon Hill Little League entered Tuesday night’s action against Little Mountain of North Vancouver, having been thoroughly trounced by White Rock 12-3 in four innings on Sunday. It was humbling as the hosts of the 2017 BC Provincial Little League Championships.

They got behind early again against Little Mountain at Hollywood Park but were determined this time to make a game of it, having won only once in their three games entering Tuesday’s action.

They fell behind 5-0. Then, they proceeded to score four in the bottom half of the 5th inning to make it 5-4.

Little Mountain scored one in the top of the 6th. The potentially dramatic stage was set.

Some clutch hitting by Charlie Walmsley and Matthew Butler and Walker Sulley scored one and loaded the bases in the bottom of the 6th with none out – they only play six innings.

After two grounders that ended in outs at the plate and no runs scored, Sam Shaw came to bat. He ran the count to full (3balls, 2strikes) then hit one out to deep centre field to score four and end the game.

Madness ensued.

Beacon Hill is now .500 in the tournament, 2-2. They play again Thursday night at 6:00 pm at Hollywood Park.
