The second race in the Vancouver Island Race Series – Cobble Hill 10K – takes place on Sunday, January 27 at 11 am. The race starts and finishes at George Bonner Middle School, Cobble Hill Road. The 10K is hosted by the Ceevacs Road Runners.

Runners can register online until 6pm, Friday January 25 at www.islandseries.org or on race day. Race registration until January 25 is $30 for adults and $25 for students. Race day registration is open on Sunday from 9 am to 10:15 am at a cost of $50. Race organizers advise to get to the school early to register to avoid disappointment.

“The Ceevacs Roadrunners and their many volunteers are looking forward once again to hosting the Island running community on Sunday,” says race director, Ian Milne. “We expect to see strong competition through all the age groups. With a flat course on scenic rural roads, there is a good opportunity for runners to register personal best times.”

Last year the race was won by Nanaimo’s Shelby Drope in 33:00, with UVic Vikes Alison Hooper winning the women’s race in 35:38. The course record was set in 2013 by Geoff Martinson in 30:46. The women’s record is 34:44, set by Cheryl Murphy in 2008.

Cobble Hill 10K will be followed by Cedar 12K on February 10, Hatley Castle 8K on February 24, Port Alberni Paper Chase 15K on March 10, Comox Valley RV Half Marathon on March 24, TriStars 10K on April 7 and the Synergy Health Management Bazan Bay 5K and Series Awards on April 14.
