The sixth race in the Vancouver Island Race Series – Comox Valley RV Half Marathon – takes place on Sunday, March 24. The race is hosted by the Comox Valley Road Runners (CVRR).
“This is our 25th annual event and CVRR looks forward to hosting everyone on our very fast half marathon course. Racers can also expect great hospitality and exceptional post-race refreshments and awards, thanks to Comox Valley RV and our numerous sponsors,” says race director, Wayne Crowe. “We were a 20km race for many years prior to changing to the half marathon, which features some spectacular views of Mt. Washington and Forbidden Plateau.”
In 2018 the winners were Ian Searle and Erin Burrett. The course records are 1:03:57 set by Jon Brown in 2005 and 1:16:55 (Stephanie Andrews) in 1998.
There will be a 10 am start for walkers and runners anticipating finishing in more than 2.5 hours. The regular start is at 11 am. The race starts and finishes at Florence Filberg Centre, 411 Anderton Avenue, Courtenay.
