The University of Victoria Vikes women’s basketball team are pleased to announce the commitment of 17-year-old Karsen Look for the 2019-20 season.

“We are very excited to welcome Karsen on board as a Vike,” said head coach Dani Sinclair. ” She is a great fit and will help to add size and depth to our roster. Karsen has a great feel for the game and we look forward to her development but believe she can be a contributor right away.”

Look has spent the past four years playing for the Brookswood Secondary School in Langley, B.C., and was part of the North Vancouver under 17 VK Basketball team that finished first at the Canada Basketball National Club Championships in August of 2018.

“I have known that I wanted to play for the Vikes from the moment I stepped into CARSA for the first time,” said Look. “I am excited to be a part of a historic Vikes team and can’t wait to start working with the coaches, while playing at one of the highest levels of basketball in the country.”

The six-foot-four centre will bring a much-needed size and physical presence to the Vikes line-up next year. Look has had the opportunity to display her skill set both locally and nationally, earning Player of the Game honours at both the senior provincials and Canada Basketball National Club Championships held in her hometown in August.

“Going to the University of Victoria has been a dream of mine for years,” commented Look. “They have such a beautiful campus and I have heard many great things about their academic programs. I look forward to being able to make my dreams a reality.”

Look intends to study in the Faculty of Education with a focus on elementary years when she arrives at UVic in the fall of 2019.
