MEN’S & WOMEN’S GOLF

The Vikes golf teams will get their season started off early this year travelling to Eugene, Ore. to compete in the Northwest Christian Invitational. For the men, the Vikes will have three first year students in the field this week. Josh Miller and Jake Hamilton will be called upon to provide leadership for the rookies. On the women’s side, head coach Justin Clews will get to see the talents of top recruit Sukriti Harja. The team looks to be well rounded heading into the first week of competition. LIVE STATS

WOMEN’S FIELD HOCKEY

The Vikes women’s field hockey team get their season started this weekend with two games against their long-time rivals at UBC. With a good mix of veteran and first year players, the Vikes will be seeking revenge against the Thunderbirds who knocked the Vikes out of the running for a spot in the U SPORTS Championship series in 2017. MEN’S RUGBY

The Vikes opened their Barnard Cup season on Sept. 8 with a victory over Westshore by a score of 57-36. This weekend the Vikes visit the Castaway Wanderers for the first of their games that count towards the B.C. Premier League standings. With the conclusion of the U20 Junior World Rugby Trophy, head coach Doug Tate expects his squad to be back to full strength with the addition of nine players who were overseas representing Canada in Romania.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

The Vikes head into the weekend with a 1-2 conference record after the Sept 7-9 weekend with a win over Fraser Valley and a loss to Trinity Western. This weekend, the Vikes will play host to the Lethbridge Pronghorns and Calgary Dinos, both from the Prairie Division. Lethbridge opened their season with losses to Mount Royal and Alberta. MEN’S SOCCER

The Vikes were powered by a home crowd of 3,600 last Friday night to help claim victory over the UBC Okanagan Heat by a score of 4-3. Victoria followed up with a 3-3 draw against Thompson Rivers on Saturday to improve their overall recorded to 1-2-2. This weekend the Vikes will travel east to take on the Alberta Golden Bears and the MacEwan Griffins. The Golden Bears are currently undefeated on the season and hold a 5-0-0 record.
