Vikes men’s soccer forward and first year Matteo Ventura named Canada West second star of the week.

First-year University of Victoria Vikes forward Matteo Ventura was the standout player over the Sept. 7-8 weekend as the team beat UBC Okanagan Heat and tied Thompson Rivers.

Ventura scored two of the team’s four goals and was tied for the most shots and shots on goal. Ventura also had an assist in the 3-3 tie on Sept. 8 against the WolfPack and once again was tied for the team lead in shots and shots on goal.

Ventura’s play this past weekend was pivotal as the Vikes improve their Canada West record to 1-2-2.

Victoria returns to action this weekend with a pair of games in Edmonton – first against Alberta on Saturday, before a Sunday matchup with MacEwan.
