The Vikes defence continued to show it’s worth in a pair of games last weekend. They surrendered no goals in a pair of games on the road, tying Alberta 0-0 and beating UNBC 3-0.

The WolfPack were in tough last weekend in a pair of games against Trinity Western and Fraser Valley. TRU lost both games and failed to score a goal, losing 4-0 and 3-0.

UBCO also failed to pick up a point against Trinity Western and Fraser Valley last weekend. They fell 2-0 to UFV and 3-0 to TWU.

By the Numbers

4: The number of goals the Vikes have allowed through seven games this season.

25: On the opposite end of the spectrum, TRU has allowed the most goals of any team in Canada West.

15: The number of first-years TRU has on their roster, including first-year head coach Kelly Shantz

Coach’s Take
Tracy David, Vikes head coach

“We have to take it one game at a time, one weekend at a time, point by point. That’s what we have to look at and that’s what we are focussing on.”

“On any team your midfield is your engine room and certainly all three (Emily LieuwenSarah DouglasStephanie Badilla Gutierrez) of those players have contributed to the fact that we are tough defensively to score against. They are veteran players and when you combine them with the players we have at the back and our goalkeeper. I think that’s why you’re seeing us being pretty stingy in terms of the goals that we are giving up.”

It’s going to be nice to be at home, we’ve been away two weekends in a row. It was a long road trip this past weekend.”
