The University of Victoria Vikes men’s basketball program and head coach Craig Beaucamp are pleased to announce the commitment of guard Jaden Touchie for the 2017-18 season.
The six-foot-one guard from Victoria, B.C. is excited for the opportunity to play with his hometown Vikes.
“It is crazy to think that I will be playing for the Vikes next year,” said Touchie. “I will be a part of the team that I watched while growing up and have the opportunity to play alongside some of the best players in the country.”
A B.C. Provincial team member for multiple years and a second Team All-Canadian at the 2014 U-15 National Championship, Touchie has helped lead B.C. to sixth and third-place finishes in Canada.
“Jaden comes from a great basketball program and understands the commitment necessary to be successful at the university level,” said Vikes head coach Craig Beaucamp.
During his time at Oak Bay Secondary, the guard has played an integral role in the Bays back-to-back Vancouver Island Championship titles.
In 2016, Touchie was a member of a Bays team that finished fifth at the B.C. AAAA Provincial Championship Tournament.
“His ability to defend and his competitiveness give him a chance to contribute next year,” said Beaucamp. “We are very excited to have a player like Jaden in our program.”
Touchie will suit up with the Vikes men’s basketball team in the fall of 2017.
