The Vikes women’s basketball team will begin their regular season this weekend with their home openers against UBC Okanagan. Dani Sinclair returns as head coach for her sixth season and has guided the Vikes through a 1-3 pre-season record with their lone win coming in a split weekend with Fraser Valley. Amira Giannattasio, Kristy Gallagher and Marissa Dheensaw all return as veterans for the Vikes.
The Vikes men’s basketball team have had an eight game pre-season and boast a 5-3 record heading into this weekend’s Canada West home opener series against the Heat. Craig Beaucamp welcomes Josh Mullen as an interim assistant coach with the recent departure of long-time assistant Craig Behan, while the Vikes men have a fairly new group that are led by seniors Jordan Charles, Mason Loewen, Justin Kinnear and Hayden Lejeune.

MEN’S FIELD HOCKEY
The Vikes men’s field hockey team are still on the hunt for their first win this season. The young squad led by coaches and former Vikes Derrick Norton and Mark Erickson will head to Surrey to play the West Coast Kings this weekend.

Fresh off a team win at the recent Vikes Shootout at Cordova Bay the Vikes women’s golf team will head to their final tournament of the fall season before regrouping in the spring for NAIA championship qualifications.

MEN’S & WOMEN’S ROWING
Following a successful weekend of the Head and Tail of the Gorge the Vikes will play host for the second-straight weekend as teams from Western Canada will be featured at Elk Lake for the Western Canadian University Rowing Championship. Qualifications are on the line for the upcoming Canadian University Rowing Championship, hosted Nov. 4-5 at Burnaby Lake.

After an exciting 0-0 tie against the Canada West leaders Trinity Western and a 6-0 win over Fraser Valley, the Vikes have locked up second place in the Pacific Division and are set to host the first round of playoffs. Calgary and UNBC will play a play-in game on the Friday in Victoria and the winner will move on to play the Vikes on Sunday in quarter-final play. The winner of Sunday’s match up will move on to the Canada West Final 4 hosted by the highest remaining Prairie seed.
The Vikes continue their fall swim meet schedule heading up island to Nanaimo for the NRST SC event.
