Upcoming games and special events for the University of Victoria Vikes varsity teams. All times listed below are in Pacific Time. Home events are highlighted in YELLOW.
The Vikes men and women’s golf teams will host the annual Vikes Shootout this week on Oct. 15-16. The two-day tournament will be held at the Cordova Golf Course in Victoria, BC.
Monday/Tuesday, Oct. 15-16: Vikes Shootout (Victoria, BC)
The Vikes women’s rugby team will travel to Edmonton this Friday to begin the Canada West playoffs hosted by the Alberta Pandas. Victoria will face their provincial rivals from UBC in their semifinal match on Friday, Oct. 19. The two teams split the season series, UBC won 26-24 in their first meeting and the Vikes won 10-5 in what was a rainy affair at Wallace Field on Sept. 30.
Friday Oct. 19: Vikes vs. UBC Thunderbirds, Canada West semi final (Time TBA, Edmonton, Alta)
The Vikes men’s rugby team find themselves in a match this week with double the value. The UBC Thunderbirds will travel to Victoria on Oct. 20 for a game that will count towards the BC Premier league standings and the Legends Cup. The Vikes are coming off a convincing win over Nanaimo this past weekend but will face a tough UBC squad who last weekend knocked off the defending league champions and current Canadian Rugby Club Champions, the UBCOB Ravens by a score of 25-5.
Saturday, Oct. 20: Vikes vs UBC Thunderbirds (2:30 p.m., Wallace Field)
The Vikes women’s soccer team will wrap up their regular season this weekend with games against the Fraser Valley Cascades and the Trinity Western Spartans. The Vikes currently hold a 6-5-1 record in the Canada West pacific division to sit in fourth place. Fraser Valley is just four points behind the Vikes in fifth place and the Spartans are on top of the standings with a 11-1-0 record.
Friday, Oct. 19: Vikes vs Fraser Valley (5:00 p.m., Centennial Stadium)
Saturday, Oct. 20: Vikes vs Trinity Western (5:00 p.m., Centennial Stadium)
The Vikes men’s soccer team enters the final week of the regular season in fifth place, one spot out of the final playoff position in the Canada West pacific division. This weekend Victoria will face the sixth place team, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack and the seventh-place team, the UBC Okanagan Heat. The Vikes will need to pick up two wins if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Sunday, Oct. 21: Vikes at UBC Okanagan (3:00 p.m., Kelowna, B.C.)
The Vikes women’s basketball team will conclude their pre season schedule this weekend in Edmonton with games against the Alberta Pandas and the Fraser Valley Cascades on Oct. 19 and 20. Victoria was in Ontario this past weekend for a pair of games against McMaster and Western. The Vikes suffered a loss to McMaster but finished the weekend strong with a win over Western.

The Vikes men and women’s rowing team will be hosting the annual Head of the Gorge and Tail of the Gorge this weekend at the Gorge Narrows Rowing Club in Victoria. Both teams are coming off impressive showings at this past weekend’s Western Canadian Rowing Championships in Leduc, Alta.
