Upcoming games and special events for the University of Victoria Vikes varsity teams. All times listed below are in Pacific Time.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
The University of Victoria Vikes men’s basketball team split their weekend series against the Regina Cougars on Jan.4-5. The Cougars hit a buzzer-beater to claim victory on Jan.4 but the Vikes answered back with another nnail-bitingvictory of their own on Jan.5. This weekend, the Vikes will host the 10-4 Fraser Valley Cascades with the Saturday game being UVic’s annual Bell Let’s Talk Night. The Cascades extended their winning streak to nine this past weekend after sweeping the Brandon Bobcats at home. The Vikes currently hold a 5-7 record to sit 11thin the Canada West standings while the Cascades are in third behind UBC and Calgary.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The Vikes women’s basketball team rebounded from a 35-point loss on Jan.4 to the Regina Cougars with a last-second victory on Jan. 5 to salvage the weekend series split against the reigning national bronze medalists. The Vikes will host the Fraser Valley Cascades this weekend with the Friday night match being the annual Shoot for the Cure game in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. On Saturday, the Vikes will also be holding their annual Bell Let’s Talk Night. The Cascades are two wins ahead of Victoria in the Canada West standings with a 9-5 record. Fraser Valley enters this weekend series on a six-game win streak after a sweep over the Brandon Bobcats last weekend.

MEN’S RUGBY
The University of Victoria men’s rugby team concluded 2018 with a win over the Nanaimo Hornets on Dec.1 by a score of 50-32. The win evened the Vikes record at 4-4 in the BC Rugby Premier League standings. This weekend the Vikes will travel to the mainland for a matchup against their long time rivals from UBC in the second leg of the Wightman Boot Series. The T-Birds claimed victory over the Vikes in the first leg by a score of 45-26 back in October. UBC currently sits in second place with a 6-3 record and finished the first half of their season with a loss to the UBCOB Ravens by a score of 27-26 on Dec.1.
