The Sports Car Club of America’s Western Conference, US Majors Tour picks up just north of Los Angeles this weekend at Buttonwillow Raceway Park.
Victoria’s Bill Okell will be back behind the wheel of the San Francisco-based Huffaker Engineering’s Healey MK III, as he will compete in race number seven and race number eight in the twelve-race, US western states series.
With three year’s experience in the US Majors Tour, Okell has one win, coming last year at Buttonwillow Raceway, driving Huffaker Engineering’s MG Midget. He currently sits first place in the west, while nationally he has slipped from third place and now resides, fifth in the rankings, of the 30 nationally accredited drivers.
The US National Championships are at the Mid-Ohio race course near Lexington, September 15-25, 2016. Okell’s sole appearance at the National Championships was two years ago at Monterey, California’s Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, where he finished tenth.
