One down, and one to go, for Victoria’s Bill Okell, as he heads to San Francisco’s, Sonoma Raceway Park this weekend for the final two qualifying races in the Sports Car Club of America’s, [SCCA], U.S. Majors Tour, Western Conference Championship.

It was  back in early May, where Okell qualified his Huffaker Engineering Austin Healy in the GTL race for the upcoming  SCCA’s National Championship ‘Run-offs’, in mid October, and this weekend he is looking for two strong finishes in the F-Production race group, that will also qualify him for the second year in a row. He currently sits near the bubble in 10th place in the F-Production Western Conference points standings and really needs two good reliable finishes to secure his spot in the bid for a U.S. national championship.

Okell is no stranger to competing at this level as he finished 10th in F-Production in 2014 when the Run-Offs were here on the west coast at Laguna Seca, and then a 21st placing last year at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He also finished  12th in the GTL race Championship final at  Indianapolis in 2017. Okell is the current SCCA U.S. Majors Tour Western Conference Champion for GTL, plus he is the current Sonoma Raceway  track record holder for NASPORT Lite

The SCCA Run-Offs, being held in October,   make their second California appearance on the west coast in the last four years as Sonoma Raceway will be the venue for over 500 drivers coming from all over North America vying for 25 available championship titles.
