Friday night, the Victoria Shamrocks started off their 2016 regular season campaign the way they ended last year, in a winning way as they absolutely trounced the visiting Nanaimo Timbermen.
Brentwood’s Cory Conway scored two goals and picked up a stunning 15 assists, helping the home side at The Q Centre overwhelm the Timbermen by a score of 18-6.
Conway’s point totals are potentially a league record, breaking Jim Douglas’s 16 point total from 1941.
Before Conway shot the lights out of the Timbermen, the Shamrocks celebrated their 2015 Mann Cup title, by bringing the cup out for the sell-out crowd to enjoy the championship one more time. They have won the Mann Cup nine times, starting in 1955.
Corey Small also had a big game with seven goal and four points, while Rhys Duch earned a hat trick and assisted on nine others.
The Shamrock’s next home game is Friday, May 27th against the New Westminster Salmonbellies.
