The Christie-Phoenix Insurance Victoria Run Series reconvenes this Saturday, September 26th at Beaver Lake Park, with a 6K cross country race for all abilities from beginner to elite.
The race will be run over three 2K loops starting in the area adjacent to the area known commonly as the “Dog Walk Park”.
The Victoria Run Series is in its sixth year, previously known as The Q’s Victoria Run Series.
During the spring the series offers the only opportunity for runners of all abilities to race on the track over 400-metres to 5,000-metres. The track races take place at the University of Victoria’s Centennial Stadium, while the cross country races happen at Beaver Lake Park, just off of Elk Lake Drive.
The series offers the only opportunity for participants to race traditional cross country. The Charity of Choice is KidSport Greater Victoria.
Last Saturday saw the first cross country race of the season with a modest crowd of just 20 participants. The following day, there were three Terry Fox runs as well as a MEC race, which had an effect on the numbers.
New to the series? Runners, this Saturday only, pay just $5 to race, if they have not run in any of the previous series races. Runners regularly pay $15 in advance or $20 on the day to race. Season passes are available for as low as $65 to $110 for late registration.
There are draw prizes, refreshments supplied by Dairyland and Muscle MLK and medals for the first three men and first three women, overall.
The 6K race starts at 1:00 PM. Register before 12:30 PM to guarantee a spot.
