The Victoria Royals played the first game on their four-game road trip that takes them through the prairies in Moose Jaw and lost to the Warriors by the score of 7-4.

It was a bittersweet game for Tyler Soy, who tied the all-time franchise career points record of 264 with Brandon Magee with an assist (124g-140a) in 280 contests. Former Royal and Chilliwack Bruin Magee as he totalled 264 points (113g-151a) over 318 games.

Jayden Halbgewachs opened the scoring with his first of two goals on the game at 3:11 in the opening period. It was his 24th of the season. Justin Almeida scored a hat-trick including his 13, 14 and 15th goals of the season. Brett Howden (11th) and Tanner Jeannot (18th) rounded out the scoring for the Warriors.

For the Royals, Jeremy Masella scored his first of the season. Team-leader and Captain Matthew Phillips scored his 21st of the season at 10:26 of the first from Ryan Peckford. Meanwhile Jared Legien picked up a pair (12th and 13th) to round out the Royals scoring.

After the first period, they skated to the dressing rooms with the scored at two apiece. The teams exchanged powerplay goals during the second. But Halbgewachs broke the 3-3 tie at 18:24 of the second.

At 4:03, Almeida scored the backbreaker, a short-handed marker, and the eventual game-winner.

With Griffen Outhouse pulled in favour of the extra attacker, the Warriors scored with two seconds remaining in the game.

Brody Willms stopped 18 of 22 shots, while Outhouse faced 35.

The Royals powerplay went 1/5, while Warriors went 1/3.

The Royals next play Wednesday against the Swift Current Broncos with a 5:00 pm, PST puck drop. Of their next eight games (including Tuesday) seven are on the road.
