The Victoria Royals will entertain the Kootenay ICE this Friday at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for Teddy Bear Toss Night. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.

RAINING TEDDIES: Friday’s contest will mark the Royals’ seventh annual Teddy Bear Toss game. Victoria alumni Zane Jones (2011), Austin Carroll (2012 and 2013), Axel Blomqvist (2014), Ethan Price (2015), and current Royals’ forward Eric Florchuk have recorded the previous teddy bear goals. The fastest Victoria player to have sent the teddies flying on the ice was Carroll back on December 7, 2013, when he recorded the teddy bear goal 3:51 into the game.

HOME COOKING: Entering this week, the Royals boast a home record of 10-3-1-0 and a points percentage of 0.750. This is the second highest points percentage of any club in the Western Conference, and fourth-highest in the WHL. Victoria’s 10 victories on home ice are also the third-most of any team in the league.

Fans are encouraged to bring their new teddy bears or stuffed toys and throw them on the ice after the Royals score their first goal. Save-On-Foods will be giving out plastic bags at the entrance to wrap stuffed toys in before they are thrown on the ice.

The Royals Team Store and kiosk will be selling the original stuffed Marty the Marmot dolls for $10.00.

Bears will be distributed to a variety of local charities including The Zone Toy Drive, Salvation Army, The Mustard Seed, and Craigflower Elementary School.
