The Victoria Royals tallied the game’s opening two markers as the club took a 2-1 decision over the Kelowna Rockets on Wednesday night at Prospera Place.

Victoria’s Jack Walker opened the scoring when he wristed home his 19th marker of the season from the right circle. Royals’ rookie Kaid Oliver buried the game winner, his second of the year, in front of Kelowna netminder Michael Herringer mid-way through the third frame. The Rockets’ Nolan Foote registered the home side’s lone goal late in the final stanza.

With an assist, Chaz Reddekopp has now tallied a point in 10 consecutive (4g-9a) games. Regan Nagy extended his assist streak to three contests, where he has collected four helpers during that span.

Victoria goalie Griffen Outhouse turned aside 26 of the 27 shots directed at him in the victory. The marker on Outhouse was the only goal he had allowed in his last 137:08 minutes of action.

Kelowna’s Herringer made 26 saves on the 28 shots he faced.

The Royals went 0/4=0.0% on the man-advantage, while the Rockets held a mark of 1/5=20.0%.

Victoria is back in action tomorrow night in Kamloops for a New Year’s Eve battle versus the Blazers at the Island Savings Centre with game time set for 5:00 p.m.

The Royals return home on Wednesday, January 11th for a match against the Rockets. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Select Your Tickets Box Office, over the phone by calling 250-220-7889, or by visiting www.selectyourtickets.com.
