The Victoria HarbourCats defeated the Yakima Valley Pippins in game two of their three-game set at Royal Athletic Park. After losing game one,  the ‘Cats came back. In doing so, they tied the all-time lead record for wins in a season with 39. They have one last game, tomorrow to surpass the record and get 40 wins on the season.

There was a good crowd out for this game with 4,976 fans in attendance. The HarbourCats had already taken the all-time league record in attendance and Friday became the first team to surpass 50,000 fans. With a sellout, they could come tantalizingly close to 60,000, Sunday afternoon.

Tonight they won by the score of 6-2 and now sport a record of 39-14, which leads the league.

It wasn’t until the eighth inning where either team established  any sort of offence when Victoria came up with three two-out hits, including a Ryan Anderson double and a P.J. Floyd RBI triple, which was followed by a two-run homer by Tommy Jew.

With the win the HarbourCats regain first overall in the league. They finished first during the first half of the season, securing a playoff spot and sporting a ridiculous record of 23-4 for an .852 win percentage.

The HarbourCats play Sunday at 1:00 PM at Royal Athletic Park.http://www.victoriasportsnews.com/press-club/ border=
