The Victoria Grizzlies have made two player moves, in advance of the Bauer BCHL Showcase event this weekend in Chilliwack.

The Grizzlies have acquired 20-year-old defenceman Chuck Bennis from the Fargo Force of the USHL in exchange for future considerations. The 6-3/206 left-shooting blueliner from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, played 46 games for Fargo in 2014-15 with two goals, five assists and 136 penalty minutes.

Bennis will join the Grizzlies in time for the BCHL Showcase, which sees the Grizzlies face the Chilliwack Bruins on Saturday (7:30pm) and Prince George Spruce Kings on Sunday (1pm).

In a corresponding move, defenceman Cal Walker has been designated for assignment. The 18-year-old from St. Catherine’s, Ontario, played in three games with four penalty minutes.

The Grizzlies will be playing their Home Opener on Thursday, facing the Coquitlam Express at the Q Centre in Colwood, with many great activities planned to welcome the Grizzlies to their home ice.

Tonight (Thursday, Sept. 24), the Grizzlies are hosting a sponsor/season ticket holder/billet event at Olympic View Golf Course, running from 7-9pm.
