The Hottest team in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL), the Victoria Cougars were at it again on Saturday, this time they shut-out the Comox Valley Glacier Kings by a score of 6-0. This win gives the Cougars a streak of 11-consecutive wins.

Goal scorers were, Dom Kolbeins, Ryan Vorster, Brett Lervold and Nathan Looysen who led the team with a hat-trick. The line of Cody Hodges, Kolbeins, and Looysen combined for ten points.

The Cougars led 2-0 after the first period and 4-0 after the second. This win improves their 2015-2016 season record to a stellar 21-4-1-0.

The Cougars, who are first in the league in special teams, converted 2-of-7 on the man advantage and a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The Cougar defence standout too, allowing just 15 shots on goal, which provided goaltender Anthony Ciurro the opportunity to earn his VIJHL-leading seventh shutout of the season.

Glacier King’s goaltender Paul Broadbent was pulled at the start of the third period after allowing four goals on just 22 shots.

The next game for the Cougars is Thursday, December 3rd against the Westshore Wolves. Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre is 7:00 p.m.
