Ukko-Pekka Luukonen and Oskari Laaksonen speak to the media about winning the gold medal during the 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Vancouver.

The series took place in Victoria and Vancouver, BC with the medal round at Roger’s Arena in Vancouver.

It is the third win in six years for the Finns, this time over the Americans by the score of 3-2. It came down to a thrilling finish with the Finns scoring the winner with less than 90 seconds remaining in the game.

Laaksonen is a Buffalo Sabres third round entry draft pick, 89th overall from the 2017 draft, while Ukko-Pekka Luukonen was also chosen by the Sabres in 2017, 54th overall in the second round.
