Tickets for the 2018 Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner are on sale. The annual dinner will honour eight individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to their sport in Victoria. The dinner will be held at the Westin Bear Mountain on Saturday, October 27.
“The Induction Ceremony and Dinner is the highlight of our year,” says Doug Jennings, President of the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame. “This is our 25th annual event and we have inducted over 200 sports personalities from Victoria, who have made a valuable contribution to their sport nationally and internationally.”
The eight inductees are Dave Calder (Rowing), Rich Harden (Baseball), Alison Murdoch (Golf) and Deb Whitten (Field Hockey) will be inducted in the athletes’ category. In addition, three-time Olympic swimmer Ron Jacks will be honoured in the coaching category for services to swimming, and Ian Lamplugh in the official’s category for baseball. The two builder inductees will be Hugh MacDonald (Multi-sports) and Yeiji Inouye (Judo) who will be honoured posthumously.
“Tickets can be purchased individually, or you can purchase a table of 10. The evening is a celebration of sports excellence and not to be missed,” adds Jennings.
