All finishers will receive a unique ship’s wheel medal

The sun is predicted to shine on Sunday when over 400 participants hit the Sidney streets in the 2nd Annual Seaside 8k/5k and kids run.

The run attracts recreational runners and walkers, and a few more serious contenders to this beautiful seaside town. With the demise of the Sidney July 1 race a few years ago, there are only two runs now in Sidney – the Bazan Bay 5k in April, as part of the Island Race Series, and now the Seaside Run.

“We are a vibrant and active waterfront community and we know how to throw a party,” says  Councillor Barbara Fallot from the Town of Sidney, and the official starter on Sunday.
“We invite everyone to bring the whole family, join us for the run.”

The first running of the event last year sold old and with late registration Saturday at Frontrunners Shelbourne from 11 am – 5 pm, the weather may sway a few still on the fence.

“We have another unique collector finisher medal for this year’s participants,” says event director Nick Walker. “The medal is wood and carved like a ship’s wheel.” And the rumour is true, freshly made grilled cheese sandwiches are back again. “A great post-run treat,” Walker adds.

Package pick up is at Frontrunners Shelbourne on Saturday from 11 am- 5 pm, and on Sunday at Beacon Park, Sidney from 8:30 am – 9: 30 am.
