The world’s top-ranked fastball team is on the island this weekend. The Sooke Loggers will be hosting the New Zealand Black Sox in four exhibition games to Sunday. Two games are in Cedar near Nanaimo, while two games will be played at the Langford fastball diamonds on Carlow Road.

The Black Sox are preparing for the July 7-16 WBSC World Softball Championships taking place in Whitehorse, YK. Two loggers will be on the defending champion team Canada roster in Kris Walushka and Blake Hunter.

This will be the second time that Walushka will be playing for Team Canada.

The Sooke Loggers are a Men’s Senior “A” team that has been ranked 7th on the ISC World Tournament Rankings.

Game times will be 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm, Sunday.

Before noon the New Zealand Club with perform the “HAKA” dance.
