The Victoria Shamrocks are pleased to announce the acquisition of Joe Resetarits for the remainder of the 2017 Western Lacrosse Association season. Resetarits, a 27-year-old right-handed offensive player, joins the Shamrocks after five seasons with the Brampton Excelsiors of the Ontario Major Series Lacrosse league. In 95 regular season and playoff games with the Excelsiors, the 5’ 11” 190-pound Resetarits scored 113 goals and 251 points. He was a Mann Cup champion with Brampton in 2011 and in 2015 he was named the Most Valuable Player in the Ontario Major Series. The native of Hamburg, New York is also a veteran of six seasons in the National Lacrosse League where he has racked up 237 points in 91 games played.
Shamrocks General Manager Chris Welch said the deal came in just under the wire at the deadline for inter-provincial transfers which was at noon local time on Wednesday. “It came together under a very tight timeline and we obviously couldn’t have got it done without the help of the guys in Brampton, Zeny Lipinski and Steve McCullough” said Welch. “We’re really excited to add Joey, he’s a great fit with our group. He’s an elite player who has played with several of our guys before and there aren’t many who are better than him down low on offense. It’s going to make us more balanced up front and more difficult to defend against.”
Resetarits is excited for the opportunity with the Shamrocks. “I can’t wait to get out there and play,” he said. “I have a lot of good buddies on that team and I’ve heard nothing but great things about Victoria and the Shamrocks organization. I want to do everything I can to help in going for another Mann Cup.”
Resetarits is expected to make his debut in July.
