The Saanich Braves continue to find ways to win. Wednesday, they visited the Westshore Wolves at The Q Centre in Colwood and took them to overtime before Gavin Grewal scored during the second overtime period to salt the game away at 2-1.

The Braves are now 10-0-2-1. Their only loss so far this season was in overtime to the Peninsula Panthers.

Keegan Durrance opened the scoring during the first period. He scored at 8:34 on the powerplay from Connor Eddy and Parker Ellis.

There was no scoring during the second period.

The Braves scored at 4:33 of the third period when Jake Wilhelm buried the puck on the powerplay from Dale McCabe. McCabe also set up Grewal’s game-winner.

Grewal is now third in the league points race with 18 in 13 games. The 6’ 0″ 19-year-old Victoria native has picked up eight goals and 10 assists.

The Braves outshot the Wolves 30-28.

Both teams went 1/1 on the man advantage.

Chris Combiadakis earned the win in goal for the Braves, while Jordan Spandli, took the loss, however, earned star honours for his play.

The teams play game two of their back-to-back set at Pearkes Arena on Friday; puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
