A New Year’s Eve tradition – the Annual Run Through Time – will be celebrating its 30th Annual event on December 31st. Held at the University of Victoria, the 5km/3km run and walk attracts up to 100-150 participants.

Hosted by Runners of Compassion, the event is a fundraiser for Shoes for Youth, a program that assists the underprivileged with footwear. Since 1996 when Runners of Compassion and Frontrunners Footwear founded the Shoes for Youth program, over 2,000 pairs of shoes have been donated.

“We have raised approximately $30,000 since being involved in the Run Through Time,” says Runners of Compassion founder Rob Reid. “It’s a great family friendly event, very low key, but with a loyal following among our running community, who are all passionate about helping others.”

Get your tutu on for New Years Eve!

Participants are encouraged to ‘light up’ and wear bright colours – the occasional tutu is not an unusual sight. The route, around the UVic ring road, starts at 6 pm and is followed by light refreshments and snacks in the lobby of the McKinnon gym.

Registration before December 21 is $20 for adults, $10 for children under 13, and $40 for a family registration. After December 21 the fees are $30/15/60. Registration is available on line at: https://raceroster.com/events/2018/20677/30th-annual-run-through-time

The first 100 registrants have the opportunity to purchase a souvenir toque.

Family registration is available only at Frontrunners locations – 1200 Vancouver St, 3659 Shelbourne St, and 755 Goldstream Ave – or at UVic before the run on Dec 31 from 5 pm – 5:45 pm in the McKinnon gym lobby
