The Victoria Royals are pleased to announce that they have signed 2002-born defenceman Kaden Reinders and 2001-born blueliner Remy Aquilon to Western Hockey League (WHL) Standard Player Agreements.

Reinders was drafted by the Royals in the third round, 52nd overall, at the WHL Bantam Draft this past May.

“Kaden is a very good defenceman who showed poise throughout training camp this week,” President and General Manager Cameron Hope said. “We are excited for his future.”

The 5-11, 170 lb defenceman spent the 2016-17 season with the Grand Prairie Storm Bantam AAA team of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League (AMBHL). In 33 games for the Storm, Reinders recorded 19 points (4g-15a) to go along with 70 minutes in penalties. The native of Kelowna, BC was listed to the Royals’ 50-man protected player list earlier this year. Each WHL team is allowed to protect 50 players which includes individuals who have either been signed, drafted or listed by their respective club.

“Remy has really grown as a player this past year, and he impressed us with his showing at camp,” President and General Manager Cameron Hope said. “He is an exciting young player who we are happy to have join our organization.”

Aquilon spent the 2016-17 season with the Pursuit of Excellence (POE) Midget Elite 15s of the Canadian Sport School Midget Elite League (CSSME). Through 28 games with POE, the blueliner tallied 16 points (4g-12a) and 28 minutes in penalties. Aquilon finished the regular season as POE’s second-highest scoring defenceman.
