The Victoria Royals will host the club’s seventh annual Pink in the Rink Night this Saturday against the Portland Winterhawks in support of the BC Cancer Foundation (BCCF) and presented by Speedy Auto Service. Victoria will also host Portland on Friday for Outdoors Night, presented by Pacific Ridge Landscapes.

FANTASTIC PHILLY: Victoria Royals’ Captain Matthew Phillips (44g-55a) sits one-point shy from the 100-point benchmark this season. Phillips would be the first Royal and second skater in franchise history to reach 100 points in a single season. A Calgary, AB native, Phillips is also two points away from tying former Chilliwack Bruin Mark Santorelli’s (101) franchise mark for most points in a single campaign. The signed Calgary Flames’ prospect is in the midst of a 21-game point streak where he has tallied 40 points (16g-24a).

BORDER BATTLES: Entering this weekend’s set versus the Winterhawks, the Royals have seen success against US Division teams as the club holds a record of 9-4-1-0 this season. Victoria has outscored their opponents 61-50 over those 14 contests. Matthew Phillips leads the club in scoring against US Division teams as he has registered 27 points (14g-13a) in those games. Phillips has also tallied points in 13 of 14 contests this season versus American teams.

Interactive displays from various organizations such as Pacific Ridge Landscapes, Oak Bay Marine Group, Enrico Winery, Russ Hays Bike Shop, Greater Victoria Horseshoe Club, Attractions Victoria, Ocean River Sports, Sailing BC, Affordable Hot Tubs and Victoria Sport & Social Club will be prominent throughout the arena concourse at the game.
