The Victoria Royals defeated the Kamloops Blazers 2-1 on Tuesday night in a contest that showcased solid goaltending from both teams at the Sandman Centre.

Victoria’s Griffen Outhouse, who boasts the fifth-best save percentage in the league at 0.924, turned aside 33 of the 34 shots he faced in the contest to earn the victory and first star honours. This is Outhouse’s eighth win of the season, which ties him for the league lead. Kamloops’ Connor Ingram made 37 saves on the 39 shots directed his way and was named the game’s second star. Ingram currently holds the second-best save percentage in the WHL at 0.929.

The Royals’ Dante Hannoun broke a 1-1 tie in the third period when he deflected a shot from Chaz Reddekopp on the powerplay. Victoria’s Jack Walker tied the game in the middle frame when he corralled a rolling puck and fired a shot top corner. The Blazers’ lone marker was recorded by Conner McDonald.

With their goals, both Hannoun and Walker extended their road point-streaks this season to seven and six games respectively. In that span Hannoun (2g-5a) and Walker (3g-4a) have each tallied seven points.

The Royals scored on the man-advantage to go 1/5=20.0% and have now recorded powerplay goals in five consecutive games. During that span Victoria has earned a 12/31=38.7% mark.

Kamloops went 1/4=25.0% with the man-advantage.
