The Victoria Royals are proud to announce that Dan Price has been hired as the team’s new Assistant Coach.

A native of St. Albert, AB, Price has spent the past two seasons with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues’ Men’s Hockey Team of Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). Price began as the club’s Assistant Coach in 2014 and was promoted to Assistant Coach & Manager of Athletic Recruitment for the 2015-16 season.

“Dan’s experience and knowledge coupled with his familiarity with the WHL make him a great fit for our organization,” Royals’ General Manager Cameron Hope said.

Price replaces former assistant coach Enio Sacilotto, who was recently named the Royals’ Director of Prospect Development and WHL Scout.

Prior to his time with the University of Toronto, Price was an assistant coach with the WHL’s Tri-City Americans for two seasons (2012-14). He also served as an assistant coach for the Chilliwack Bruins during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 campaigns before he was promoted to Associate Coach in 2008-09. The 2008-09 season saw Price capture a silver medal as an assistant coach for Team Pacific at the 2009 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. He previously scouted for the Regina Pats from 2003-06.

The 41-year-old also spent time in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (2009-12) as General Manager and Head Coach of the Drumheller Dragons.

Price played three seasons (1992-95) of junior hockey as a goaltender with the Trail Smoke Eaters and Fort St. John Huskies of the Rocky Mountain Junior Hockey League. He concluded his playing career in the CIS at the University of Regina (1995-98).
