Quadruple-A provincial high school volleyball championships semi-finals at Mount Doug today

The Oak Bay Bays girls’ AAAA high school volleyball team pulled a rabbit out of the hat Friday, by defeating the Mount Doug Rams during pool play. The win forces the second and third ranked teams in B.C. to play in a semi-final match today.

The host Rams, which are 2-1and the second- ranked team provincially will play the Belmont Bulldogs who are unbeaten in three and ranked third.

Powerhouse Belmont was ranked first overall in the province before losing to the Rams a week ago.

The Island championship game is at 3:00 PM today at Mount Doug, with both finalists advancing to the B.C. championships.

The girls’ AAA championships wrap up today at St. Michaels University School.

The boys’ AAA championships are going on at Dover Bay Secondary in Nanaimo. Victoria teams include the Reynolds Roadrunners and the Bays. Their final is also today.
