A tough task lies ahead for a UVic Vikes women’s basketball team that returns to the friendly confines of the CARSA Performance Gym after four straight games on the road. Awaiting the Vikes are the Saskatchewan Huskies, winners of three of the last four Canada West Championships.
Playing on Friday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 18 at 5 p.m. the 4-2 Vikes will be taking on a Huskies team that is 4-0 on the season and ranked No. 8 in the nation.
The last time these teams met was in the 2015-16 season and it was the Huskies who picked up the weekend sweep of the Vikes by scores of 89-83 and 78-65.
Last Time Out
The Vikes were handed their first two losses of the season last weekend as the team lost a pair of close games to the Trinity Western Spartans.
Losing 76-68 on Nov. 10 and 70-63 on Nov. 11, the Vikes were hampered by slow starts in both of their games and were outscored 85-51 in the first and third quarters combined over the weekend.
Saskatchewan continued their strong start to the year with a pair of dominating performances over the Thompson Rivers WolfPack last weekend. The Huskies picked up wins of 90-34 and 79-45 at home.
