The Peninsula Panthers hired former Western Hockey League coach Brad Tippett on Monday, August 15th. He formerly coached the Regina Pats.

If Tippitt’s name sounds familiar, his brother Dave is a former National Hockey League player and current coach of the Arizona Coyotes.

Former coach Rob Mortin left the Panthers prior after the 2015-2016 seasons.

The Tippitt’s mother lives in Sidney – Brad simply wanted to be closer to his mother. Coaching the Panthers is a natural fit.

Tippett is also a former general manager with the Prince Albert Raiders. He played in the NCAA at the University of Michigan as well as in the American Hockey League for the Sherbrooke Jets.

The Junior B Panthers play in the nine-team Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL), which is split into two divisions, North and South. The five-team South Division includes teams from Victoria, Kerry Park, Saanich and the Westshore. The Victoria Cougars, who play out of Archie Browning arena were league champions last year, while the Campbell River Storm, won the North Division.

The Panthers season begins Friday, September 2nd. border=
