On Friday, Gideone Kremler’s 20-yard touchdown strike to Gavin Cobb was the only second-half scoring Mount Douglas could muster last Friday. But the stifling Rams defence made sure it was all they would need in their 28-21 win over New Westminster Hyacks to move to 3-0 on the season.
Mount Douglas High School’s tight defence kept the New Westminster Hyacks to at bay and played an important role in a 28-21 win.
During the second half, all Mt. Doug would need was a 20-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Cobb from quarterback Gideone Kremler. He also opened the scoring with a seven-yard pass to Gevhahn McNally-Hardisty, followed by a two-point convert.
New West battled back with two touchdowns to go up by a score 15-8 before Declann Michielin returned the favour with his own two touchdowns to give the Rams a 22-15 lead going into the second half.
The Rams defence shut down the Hyacks in the second half, which was led by Michielin, who was credited with more than a dozen tackles as well as Justice Kremler with another 12.
Tyrese Hogue had a sack and two fumble recoveries, while Gevhahn McNally-Hardisty made six tackles and an interception.
The Mount Doug Rams travel over to Vancouver College this week, with the Junior Varsity playing Friday and the Varsity club playing Saturday.
