Sunday, October 29, 800-plus runners will take to the trails of Beaver and Elk Lake Parks as the MEC Victoria Race Series continues with the fifth and final event of 2017.

Runners will start near the filter beds at Beaver Lake, rather than the usual Hamsterly Beach at Elk Lake.

“The new start location was necessary as we outgrew Hamsterly Beach at the north end of the two lakes,” shared race director Caitlin Brown.

“This may be our biggest race yet. Forecast looks great and we have added a new 5K route.”

Sunday, runners will have a choice to cover the half-marathon distance of 21.1K, 10K or the 5K.

Registration rates are $15 in advance for the shorter races or $20 for the half-marathon. Meanwhile the day-of-race rate increases to $25 and $30 respectively. Register online or at the store.

Runners can save 10% off of in-store purchases while attending race package pick-up at MEC on Government Street.

The event is a costume-optional race, meaning costume or running gear, no nudity permitted (as far as we know).

“We’d just like to send out a big THANK YOU to everyone who has come out and supported the MEC Race Series. Whether it’s your first time running with us, or you’ve been running with us since the beginning, we appreciate your commitment to yourselves in getting outside, and to the running community!”
