In BC Junior Premier Baseball League action last Sunday, the Victoria Junior Mariners got off to a great start to the 2016 baseball season as they swept the Victoria Jr. Eagles in a season-opening double-header at Henderson Park.

It took extra innings in game one for the Mariners to take down the Eagles. The Mariners were down 3-1 in the 4th when Jon Gale hit a bases-loaded triple to knock in three runs. Hideki Endo also had a RBI triple.

The lead changed hands three times and was tied after 7 innings of play. As there was no scoring in the 8th, it set-up a dramatic finish in the 9th, where Andrew Baxter singled and Cody White doubled down the right field line and scored Baxter all the way from first for the walk off, 9-8, win.
