Here is a photo of Josh’s Dodge Challenge, the car is owned by Eric White and Carl Long, painted according to fellow Victoria resident and race car driver Bill Okell, “in similar colours as the 1970’s “Dukes of Hazard” General Lee.”

As reported yesterday:

The African Squirrel, Victoria’s Josh Reaume will be making his first NASCAR Xfinity series start of the 2016 season Saturday, February 26 at the two-mile, high-banked oval at Atlanta Motor Speedway, which is located just outside of Hampton, Georgia.

Reaume will again be driving for the Derek White racing team who are based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He will be behind the wheel of a Dodge Challenger as he will compete in Saturday Afternoon’s Georgia “Heads Up 250,” which is race #2 in the 30-race season. For Reaume, this will be his third year in the Xfinity series, with a total of 26 starts, his best finish is a 22nd place effort at the 2015 season opener at Daytona Speedway.

Practice gets underway Friday morning with the race scheduled for a noon start time, green flag on Saturday. Reaume is not guaranteed a starting spot, so he will have to race his way into the 40-car starting field.
Interestingly the University of Victoria alumnus was born in California to parents from Canada; raised in Africa, has raced around the globe and now calls North Carolina home.

Reaume is unlike any other driver in the sport.

Often described as the “African Squirrel” Reaume started racing kart at six-years-of-age and is a proud 2012 graduate of UVic’s Mechanical Engineering program, which he puts to good use engineering the car he drives in the NASCAR XFinity Series for Carl Long Motorsports. It is unusual that the driver – Reaume – works as the car engineer during the week and races on the weekend too. Reaume may be part of NASCAR’s next generation, but his approach to his career is decidedly “old school.”

Interestingly Quebec’s Jacque Villeneuve will likely be racing the Xfinity series and may make his start at race number three, which takes place on March 5th in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway the name of the race is the Boyd Gaming 300.

All 33 events are broadcast on TSN, which started on February 20th in Daytona at the Daytona International Speedway with the Powershare QQQ 300 and ends on November 19th with the Ford Ecoboost 300 at the Homestead Miami Speedway.
