The Vancouver Island Secondary Schools Athletics Association AAA Soccer Championships is taking place this week with Victoria based teams Mount Doug, Oak Bay, Reynolds, Claremont, Glenyon Norfolk, Spectrum and St. Andrews taking to the pitch in their respective pools, “A” and “B”.
Reynolds Secondary enters the AAA Island championships taking on Oak Bay High on Wednesday.
Reynolds draws Spectrum in their Pool B opener Wednesday, 9:00 AM at Oak Bay High, while Mount Doug opens at 9:00 AM as they host Nanaimo at Braefoot Park.
Mount Doug and Reynolds meet at 1:30 PM Wednesday, while Spectrum hosts Nanaimo again at Braefoot.
The Islands will continue Thursday as Mount Doug faces Spectrum at 10:30 AM at Oak Bay while Reynolds faces Nanaimo at 10:30 AM at Braefoot.
Claremont plays Dover Bay of Nanaimo on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Braefoot, while Oak Bay will meet them at 3:00 PM.
Thursday at 9:00 AM Cowichan will visit Oak Bay, who will host the final at 2:30 PM between the two teams to win each of Pool A and Pool B.
The top teams will go on to the provincial championships; there is room for just two. At this time the Reynolds and Oak Bay are possible candidates to move on.
