Victoria Highlanders FC announced today, the addition of Phillips Brewery to the Highlanders family as the club’s official “Pint Provider” at Highlanders home games during the 2018 Premier Development League (PDL) season. The addition of the highly respected, local brewery is another example of the fantastic local support the Highlanders have received in recent weeks and months.
“There isn’t a more respected local brewery in Victoria than Phillips Brewery,” stated co-owner Mark deFrias. “For a number of seasons, our fans have voiced their desire to have a local craft beer option at Highlanders home matches. The addition of Phillips to our games at Centennial Stadium speaks volumes to the work our ownership group is doing to make our match-day experience the best it has ever been.”
Established in 2001 by Matt Phillips, Phillips Brewery has grown beyond Victoria’s market to reach across the country. Phillips Brewery houses a distillery, as well as a malting facility—the only one of its kind in Canada.
“We’re always looking for new opportunities to engage with our community here in Greater Victoria,” said Matt Phillips, owner and founder of Phillips Brewery. “When the Highlanders approached us about overhauling the fan experience at their games we thought this was a great chance to tackle something new and exciting. We’re thrilled to be able to share our craft brews with the Highlanders FC community and help contribute to a truly unique, vibrant and exciting fan experience at the games. With so many incredible local partners onboard this is sure to be a memorable season for all of us and the island’s football community.”
The Highlanders 2018 season kicks off, May 11th on the road against the Calgary Foothills. The team returns to Victoria for their home opener, May 20th against the Portland Timbers at Centennial Stadium. Tickets are available at www.highlandersfc.ca/tickets.
