The Victoria Grizzlies won their third consecutive game Saturday night, when they defeated the Nanaimo Clippers in Nanaimo by the score of 3-2.

Last week, they defeated Langley 4-3 and then Friday night at The Q Centre they took down Cowichan 5-2.

The win against Nanaimo put a little breathing space between the two teams. Victoria sits in second place, one point back of Powell River and three points up on Nanaimo.

Powell River defeated the Wenatchee Wild by the score of 4-2 Saturday.

Nanaimo opened the scoring at 11:46 of the first period with a goal by Tristan Crozier. Four minutes and eight seconds later Jamie Rome scored his sixth of the season and second in two nights. The Calgary native will be attending Western Michigan University next year. Assists went to Lucas Clark and Matthew Doran; both goals were scored on the powerplay.

The only goal of the second period was scored by Just Michaelian with his seventh on the season, which matches his total from the 2016-2017 season after 53 games. The 19-year-old is from Wixom, MI.

Tristian Crozier scored his second of the game at 12:35 of the third, score tied 2-2.

Two-minutes and one second later, London, Ontario’s Ethan Nother netted his seventh and the game winner from Lucas Clark for his second point of the game. All three Grizzlies scored Friday against Cowichan.

Shots were 33-30 for the Clippers. The powerplays went 2/6 for the Grizzlies and 2/8 for the Clippers.

Noah Featherstonhaugh Gowe manned the net for Nanaimo, while Victoria gave Zachary Rose the start.

Victoria will visit Trial on Friday, Oct 13th followed by game in Penticton and Surrey before they return home for a Wednesday, Oct 18 match-up at The Q Centre against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
