Grizzlies take on Coquitlam and honour a legend, Friday night at The Q Centre

Victoria Grizzlies

Honouring a Legend:

Victoria Grizzlies are set to take on the Coquitlam Express Friday at 7:00 pm at The Q Centre in Colwood. Prior to the game, they will be honouring one of their long-time billet families in Colin, Deborah, Jonathan and Alexis Mantell.

Sadly, Colin recently lost his battle with cancer.

"The Grizzlies would like to show support to the family, as they have been great supporters of the organization, acting as a wonderful billet family to many of our players over the last six years," said the team in a release.

"The Grizzlies organisation is asking fans to join them as they remember an incredible man, Colin Mantell."

For the team, the game is an opportunity to bounce back. The Grizzlies had a tough loss Wednesday night against Alberni Valley in over time. While the team showed improvement defensively and were solid on offense, there are still some things that they can work on. Watch for the Grizzlies to start the game with a little extra determination as they look to redeem themselves, as the loss is still fresh in the player's minds.

The season series is on the line. Victoria plays Coquitlam three times this year. Having won the first meeting between these two teams by the score of 4-2 at the BCHL Showcase, the Grizzlies will win the season series with a win Friday. However, if Coquitlam wins, the Grizzlies would have another chance to take the season series on December 3rd in Coquitlam.

Matchup Of The Night
              Alex Newhook                      Vs.                 Mitch Newsome
These 2 players have very similar play styles, they both like to pass the puck and have a ton of speed. Both lead their teams in assists (Newhook with 13 and Newsome with 7) making this match up an interesting one. Knowing the competitive nature of both Newhook and Newsome, this calls for an interesting match up.
