Griffen Outhouse earns WHL Goaltender of the Week honours with a 4-0 record and one shutout

The Western Hockey League today announced that Victoria Royals’ goaltender Griffen Outhouse has been named the WHL Goaltender of the Week and the league nominee for Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week.

The product of Likely, BC appeared in four games for the Royals this past week and registered a 4-0-0-0 record with a 0.75 goals against average (GAA), a 0.979 save percentage (SV%) and one shutout.

The 6-0, 175 lb netminder turned aside 138 of 141 shots he faced over the four games, which included a 40-save shutout over the Canadian Hockey League’s sixth ranked Prince George Cougars on Wednesday night.

This marks the first time this year that that Outhouse has won the award. Last season, Outhouse was named for the CHL Goaltender of the Month for February 2016.

In 36 games with Victoria this season, Outhouse has posted a 21-12-3-0 record with a GAA of 2.66, a SV% of 0.921 and two shutouts. Outhouse is tied for second in the WHL in wins, fourth in GAA and third in SV%.

Over two seasons, Outhouse has registered a mark of 39-15-6-1 along with six shutouts, a 2.30 GAA, and a 0.927% SV%.

Victoria will next travel to Prince George to take on the Cougars on Friday, January 6th and Saturday, January 7th.  Puck drop for both games is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
